About 10% of heat loss from an average home is through the floor. If your floor isn't already insulated, this could be a good move to help you cut your energy bills.
Simply use sealant or caulking to fill the gaps between your floorboards and between skirting boards and the floor.
Try a fibreboard underlay or polyfoam board.
It's not going to solve all your problems, but putting a rug on top of bare floorboards will help to block some draughts and keep your toes warm.
If you have you an access hatch that allows you to get into the crawlspace (void) below the floorboards, this is a relatively easy process, if not you will have to take up the floorboards. You will need to use netting or wooden battens to hold the glass or mineral wool style insulation in place beneath the floorboards.
In the event we agree with you to take up the floorboards you can take advantage of our no quibble guarantee: if you are not entirely happy with the way the carpets are laid, we will buy and fit new ones at our cost.
Our energy professionals will be able to advise on what is appropriate and what is possible. We can assist you with everything except the rug, try IKEA.
Applications will be treated on their merits and processed in the order of the date in which they were received. No contract is entered in to until a survey has been performed, works costed, agreement with the householder reached and the voucher received.
